Penthos is a work for Choir, Orchestra, Organ and Soloists that combines high-quality music and poetry. It takes the form of the traditional Requiem Mass, but with new words exploring themes of reconciliation and forgiveness, and music that reaches beyond the words to speak to - and affirm - our deepest human longings.

The first performance took place on Saturday 27 October 2018. It was a thrilling event, in which Penthos revealed itself to a large and enthusiastic audience as a deeply-moving work of the highest quality. Huge congratulations to Matthew and Hannah on an achievement of enormous distinction. You can read Geoffrey Mogridge’s excellent review. Excerpts from the recording are now on YouTube.

If you missed it then, or would like to hear it again…

The Second performance will take place on Good Friday 7 April 2023 7.00pm at Leeds Minster
